FILMMAKER BIO

Austin Durham is an aspiring outdoor documentary filmmaker born and raised in Idaho, where his connection to the mountains, adventure, and storytelling first took root. He currently resides in the Boise area, balancing a full-time career as an electrician while pursuing his passion for independent filmmaking during his free time.

Austin began creating short films at the age of 14, using filmmaking as a creative outlet and a way to document the world around him. At a young age, he launched a YouTube channel to explore visual storytelling, initially producing motorcycle-related tutorials and lifestyle content starting at age 21. These early projects helped him refine his technical skills behind the camera and editing software while developing his voice as a storyteller.

Inspired by his father, Dirk Durham, Austin’s creative focus gradually shifted toward outdoor and hunting-based filmmaking. This influence, combined with his lifelong appreciation for hunting, camping and fishing, led him to pursue documentary filmmaking centered on wilderness adventures and the authentic bonds that are formed along the way.

Silas Summit

Silas Summit marks Austin’s debut feature-length film and serves as a personal passion project. The film was created in collaboration with Dirk Durham, and cinematographer Dusty Rupe, blending emotional storytelling with an immersive Elk hunt. Through this project, Austin aims to establish himself within the documentary filmmaking space, with a long-term goal of producing compelling stories that celebrate the powerful connection between people and nature.
